Dr. Stephanie Bliese
My Story
Dr. Stephanie Bliese is a modern church historian with a deep interest in North American charismatic and fringe belief systems. Holding a PhD in Church History with a minor in Global Christianity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, she is an independent researcher dedicated to exploring spiritual gifts, women's studies, mission, evangelism, and lived religion. Dr. Bliese actively contributes to interreligious dialogue, church history education, and theological development. Her published works include: “1968: Strong Winds, Earthquakes, Fire, Gentle Whispers, and the Lutheran Church’s Missed Opportunity" and “The Stewardship of Money and Wealth Within God’s Economy: Five Exercises for Christians" both in Word and World; “Indigenous Study: Committee Report” for Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary; "The Jesus Movement as Folk Group" in Contexts of Folklore; "Faith and Fellowship: Reputational Entrepreneurs, Group Cultures, and the Jesus Movement" in Social and Collective Memory: Critical Readings; as well as "The Missiology of Mormon Mommy Bloggers" in the Salt Collective. She is also involved in making faith communities more accessible to the neurodiverse community.
